This 1889-90 archaeological report by W. M. Flinders Petrie, along with the 1890 report Kahun, Gurob and Hawara, documents a very important season in the life of a man considered the father of modern archaeology.

When he displayed his finds in London in 1889, the mummies bearing Greco-Roman portraits were said to have inspired Oscar Wilde to write " A Portrait of Dorian Grey".
