This 105 page book by John H. Taylor the Assistant Keeper of ancient Egypt and funerary archaeology at the British museum was a most fascinating read that I had to read it a second time and no doubt I will read it again.
The book includes the mummies modern history of its discovery which leads to the undesirable condition of the mummy and the decision to autopsy it.
The mummy of Horemkenesi was presented historically as a known personage of the 20-21 dynasty by a number of ancient inscriptions which were probably as a result of his duties working in the salvage of the necropolis's of Thebes in a period of turmoil.
As interesting as the mummy is the autopsy is a first rate publication of an ancient Egyptian mummies autopsy which rarely occurs any more. The results of the operation lead to fascinating theories and conclusions.
To for a moment be a part of such a rare event is out standing!
